A BIT ABOUT ME

Live on a smallholding with my husband, Daughter 19yrs at University, and my Son aged 16 yrs training to be a Farrier like his Dad. Previously worked as a Midwife & Floristry is my second career. Grow Dahlias, dabbled in a bit of showing. Want to grow flowers and its on my list! Love my Hens, walking my Dachshund. Bred with her last year. Produce our own Honey & Candles from my Husband skills as a Bee keeper. I sell it locally and to Brides for Wedding Favours. In a book club but sometimes don't finish in time for the meeting! Lastly but most my biggest love is Yoga! I'm learning and practising daily and since losing 2 stone with Slimming World I'm always trying to self improve, self care and try new projects.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Gained Diploma in Floristry at Askham Bryan College, York 2014 NCFE Level 3 Certificate in Creative Craft, Wakefield College 2015 Gained employment following qualification and worked 2014-2016 for a Florist family business. Further gained employment with an opportunity to work for a larger established Florist Shop on the high street since 2016 to present. Covering all retail aspects, assisting with the arrangement of the bridal and maid bouquets and table decorations and setting up at venue. I have also worked on casket sprays and letter tributes as well as putting together hand ties for all the peak periods. This is a part time contract hence I am able to freelance.

Whilst working with the retail aspects of Floristry I have sought out other projects to expand my skills. I have window dressed a Hair Salon for the festive season for the past 4 years. Also a restaurant window , Tree and decorations also for the past 2 years. I have organised Christmas Wreath Making Workshops for the past 5 years mainly for friends and small groups. This October I have invested in my workshop space at home which I'm building opportunities for wedding and funeral work. I have freelanced every year at Christmas for a friend/florist to decorate customers homes for the Christmas period and also any of her larger Wedding bookings. This has involved marquee wedding work and large scale weddings under her supervision. I have particularly enjoyed hands on every task big or small and appreciate the need to be flexible and team work.
