THE YEAR AHEAD

How’s your year looking so far? We hope you’re feeling fired up for a great year ahead.

We know from speaking to some of our members that freelancing looks to be a big part of their floristry work this year, we’re looking forward to supporting you all and watching it unfold.

There’s a few things you can be doing to make sure you’re fully prepared, we’ve explored a few ideas below…

Your freelancer profile…

Make sure it shines, represents the best of you, and feels current and up to date.

One of the huge benefits of our membership is being able to create and share your own profile as a freelancer. It’s the perfect opportunity to share a snapshot of you, your background, your style, and the type of floristry and work you’re looking to connect with. It gives employers a great first glance, and a feel for who you are. Going into the New Year is the perfect time to review these details and make sure it feels fresh and is a great representation of you.

A few things you might want to think about:

  1. Are the details up to date? Is all information shared accurate and current? Do you need to add details about anything from the previous year, any details to share of great projects you can mention? Or even courses you’ve trained on? Any freelancing taken place you can detail?

  2. Keep your images fresh and updated. Are the images you’re using showcasing your best work, and also the kind of work you hope to be able to work on and produce in the future? Are they of a good quality? Remember you can update your images any time, just email them over to us at hello@thefreelanceflorist.co.uk.

(If capturing good images is something you struggle with then drop us a message, we may have the perfect workshop for you in the near future!)

  3. Have you shared a little of who you are? You’re ‘about you’ is the perfect space to really share a little of who you are, what you like, and what you are naturally drawn to. We know that the most long lasting and true connections are made when like minded florists come together, let them get a feel for you, if they feel they can relate to you then you’ll be sure to stand out.

  4. Are all the links in your profile working correctly? Is there anything new to link?

Secure freelance support…

We know a lot of you also run your own businesses, you’re busy also with weddings and events, so don’t forget it’s really easy to reach out to others when needed. If it’s looking like you’ll need freelance support yourself at certain times then share your dates and details as early as you can, diaries fill up fast.

Connecting as a community…

We know how important it is that connections are made, and we really want to help bring you together more this year to meet others.

We’re kick starting this with our first event happening in February, our first Florists Social, which will give florists a great opportunity to network and connect, more details to follow!

We’re also excited to explore some more hands on events, where we can all learn and create. With workshops and shoots in the pipe line please be sure to keep a look our for further details shared in the future.

Feedback and exposure…

And lastly don’t forget to keep us informed about any connections made and exciting projects/collaborations coming up.

If you have fulfilled a job from the website or made any great connections we want to know! Just drop us and email, or use our feedback form to tell us all about it.

We will be venturing out more to capture members in action, so if you have any great projects coming up or planned for this year let us know, we’d love to feature details for you.

Hoping it’s a great year for you all,
