A BIT ABOUT ME

I am a keen gardener, growing flowers for cutting and fruit and veg to feed my family. I love nature, walking in the surrounding Sussex countryside with my family and 2 dogs, eating out, travelling and photography. Kayaking and spending time by the water, either the beach or rivers. Eating out and spending time with my family and friends.

My favourite flower… I'm a fickle flower lover as it changes so often with the seasons. I'm not sure you can beat a sweet smelling garden rose but I also adore Anemones, Geums and Poppies. I specialise in growing tulips and Dahlias so I should probably add them to the favourites list too!

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

In 2002 I did the Career Change course at Jane Packer in London. I've since don't various private workshops and courses in person or online to keep up to date with trends and techniques.

I started out in 2002 freelancing and working with my own clients in London for weddings, PR events & fashion launches. In 2005 I worked with Judith Blacklock at her flower school in Belgravia running her office, writing course programmes, booking tutors and students, ordering all the flowers as well as helping and supporting Judith in all her other ventures including her books, photoshoots etc.
In 2007 I moved to East Sussex when my children were little and took some time out to focus on being a mum as well as honing my gardening skills and learning about flower growing. In 2012 I opened up my garden studio and ran workshops for novice florists and hobbyists running 1:1 sessions as well as groups and private bookings for businesses wanting to run team building sessions. I also started freelancing again for other local florists and starting building up my own client base offering a bespoke wedding package, event floristry, photo shoots, flower subscriptions, seasonal bouquets, dried and fresh flowers wreaths, eco funeral wreaths. I have had work featured in Rock My Wedding, Magpie Weddings and Festival Brides. I'm working on improving my best practices to be =come more sustainable in the way I work. Working with eco friendly mechanics and reducing my waste, growing many of my own flowers and working with local flower farms with seasonal flowers has been a focus for the last few years. I have a number of respected photographers, videographers, stylists, venue owners and planners in he industry that I know would be happy to give a reference for me should you need one.
