A BIT ABOUT ME
Playing with flowers used to be my hobby! But it's now become my career - which I love!
I love to holiday in the mountains and in the past 5 years I have become a huge fan of snowboarding - The peace of mind it gives me whilst weaving in and out of the snow and trees is just phenomenal.
When not on the snow, I enjoy being outdoors with my two dogs Chilli and Atlas - as well as being partial to playing a little texas hold 'em poker, in local tournaments.
My favourite flower⦠This is a tough one, but I do love a delphinium - I love the structure and shape and just feel they are a little bit different to anything else.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
I have a 2:1 degree in Events Management and Marketing alongside having completed a 2-week Professional Business Floristry Course with Judith Blacklock in Knightsbridge.
I did begin my Level 2 qualification and completed the first year at Capel Manor College - however I was unable to complete the course due to unforeseen family circumstances.
I have worked for myself and other floral designers in both floral design and Events Management.
With floristry - I have mainly worked in retail environments and gained my main bulk of experience with Wildabout Flowers in Twickenham.
I currently run a profitable flower shop in Surbiton which is my own business called Holly and the Ivy - this has allowed me to work in a variety of venues throughout London and Surrey doing both small intimate weddings and events, as well as installing for larger weddings and events - which include arch and beam installations.
My experience in Events Management - enabled me to work in venues again across London and Surrey including Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew, Syon Park and Hampton Court Palace and I feel this has provided me with a better understanding of the individual components that make up an event and as a result has made me a more understanding and better florist.
PREFERRED TYPE OF FLORISTRY WORK
I do love working on weddings - typically in a woodland, cottage garden and meadow style - I get a real buzz working with these types of stems.
