SAM SELBY
LONDON&SURROUNDING, & happy to travel
A BIT ABOUT ME
Getting out into nature is what keeps me sane - wild walks by the sea, surfing (although not very well..), trampling about in the woods & hills. I get a lot of my inspiration from nature and love using bracken, blackberries, branches, clematis old man's beard or other foraged ingredients in my floral designs to keep it looking wild and seasonal.
Alongside training & gaining experience as a florist, I worked in the TV and music industries in the early days and still very much love both of these. So basically i'm as happy staying in and bingeing a box set as I am going out and having a dance.
Just being able to do all of these things makes me happy, plus a bit of travel here and there :)
A favourite flower⦠Hard question! Anemone or Hellebore in winter & spring, foxglove and cosmos in summer!
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
I trained with McQueens Flower School in London in 2005, taking part in their 6 week career change course.
I have worked for a number of florists & stylists, starting off interning for McQueens to the present day where i'm currently freelancing at Edie Rose in London. At Edie Rose I coordinate the weddings, from initial consultation with couples, through to full design concept and execution as well as also being part of the events team, assisting on large scale events as well as undertaking regular shop duties.
I am happy to jump in and roll up my sleeves and do whatever is needed and can easily adapt & work to different floristry styles.

PREFERRED TYPE OF FLORISTRY WORK
Wedding and event work is my preferred but I am very adaptable and can step in and do what's needed in most situations. I am genuinely very happy doing anything thrown at me - whether that's cleaning vases to wedding work or playing a part in big installations.
