A BIT ABOUT ME

All things flowers! During my spare time I can be found down my allotment plot where I grow a vast selection of fruits, Veg and Flowers. I also enjoy spending my time walking my dog Arthur and I live on a Narrowboat, which can be a demanding lifestyle but one I would not change for the world, I also have a roof top garden on board my boat which usually boasts of anything seasonal and always gets comments from passes by on the tow path. Other interests and Hobbies I have are Theatre, Dance, Fashion Design and Water Colour Painting.

My favourite flower… This changes with the seasons! But at the moment I am enjoying Dahlias and Cosmos.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

I am predominantly self taught and have gained experience from working my way up in various Florists, but I did attend a short course at the Judith Blacklock School of Floristry. Other qualifications include a BA Hons First Class Degree in Acting and Physical Theatre at East 15 Acting School.

I am a hard working, passionate, professional and reliable florist with a huge amount of energy for this industry. I am experienced in all areas of floristry, from creating hand-ties of all shapes, styles and sizes, buttonholes and flower crowns to floral arches, urn arrangements, installations and everything in-between. I love to work alongside the seasons when it comes to my choice of flowers and I am enthusiastic in my ethical practises. I am proficient in all stages of floristry, from inviting guests in for initial consultations to discuss their visions for the wedding or event in question, to the final details of the finished piece. I am always more than happy to get stuck into all areas including conditioning, get ins and pack downs. No job is too big or too small, and anything is possible. I have a background in theatre and events and have a huge interest in art and fashion design, I love to use these skills and interests and adapt them into my floral work. I am excited by combining styles, textures and colours and using other media elements within my work such as dried flowers, lighting, interesting backdrops and vessels. After all why shouldn’t a wellington boot have a beautiful floral arrangement climbing out of it- within the right context of course! I like to break the rules and push the boundaries of the conventional ways of floristry. Nothing brings me more joy than working with incredible quality stems and discovering what the growers and wholesalers can offer us that is a little different. Flowers have an incredible way of changing the dynamics of a room, and I feel very lucky everyday to think I do this as a career.
